To the Egyptians He was nothing. To the Jews He was God. But to Moses, He became Jehovah.
What does all this mean? It is an amazing thing, that even in our society in which we live, God is many things to different people. Everyone believes, or acknowledges that there is a higher power, or a god somewhere in the heavens. But to the Bible believing individual, He is God – Jehovah God.
What does this mean? In Exodus 6 you will find that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob knew the Lord as God – el-Shaddai – The Almighty and Jireh – The Provider; But the Lord is making himself known to the Jews and to Moses as God – Jehovah.
You see, el-Shaddai exhibits the power of God as in "the God of more than enough," while the name Jehovah designates his nature as He stands in relation to man, as the only, almighty, true, personal, holy Being, a spirit, and the father of spirits who revealed himself to his people, made a covenant with them, and became their lawgiver, and to whom all honor and worship are due.
Now God, before He delivers His people out of 430 years of bondage, he reveals Himself as Jehovah "the ever existing One." No one has ever known Him as Jehovah. This brings an incredible amount of new security to God’s people and to Moses.
It is important to understand that many have known God by name and often time by association – as in attending church. But what do you personally know God as? Do you know Him as creator, Master, Almighty, Healer, Miracle worker? What do you personal know Him as?
Every time God does something knew in the midst of His people, He shows up with a new and a fresh characteristic of His nature, in order that we begin to trust Him in a new way.
In this end-time revival, God is moving by His Spirit in a new way. A new fire; a new wind; a new rain; a new miracle. Are you ready to experience Him in a new way and not the same way you’ve known Him all your life? - God is more than enough – He is Jehovah God
